A Prefeitura de Brumado, por meio da Secretaria Municipal de Cultura, Esporte, Lazer e Turismo, promove neste sábado (10) e domingo (11) o 1º Campeonato Brumadense de Pickleball. As partidas serão realizadas das 8h às 12h, no Ginásio Antônio Alves Ribeiro, com disputas nas categorias Individual (Single), Duplas Mistas e Duplas Masculinas.
O Pickleball, modalidade que combina elementos do Tênis, Ping-Pong e Badminton, chegou ao município em 2022 pelas mãos da brumadense Alessandra Câmara, que reside nos Estados Unidos, onde a modalidade esportiva tem ganhado adeptos e popularidade, atraindo jovens e idosos, tendo registrado, nos últimos três anos, segundo dados de pesquisa realizada pela Sports and Fitness Industry Association, organização que estuda e promove dos esportes e da fitness no país, crescimento impressionante de 311%.
Desde que chegou a Brumado, o Pickleball, a exemplo do que acontece nos Estados Unidos, o Pickleball, vem conquistando adeptos, ganhando espaço e já revelou talentos locais que conquistaram medalhas em competições baianas e nacionais organizadas pela Federação Bahiana de Pickleball e pela Confederação Brasileira de Pickleball.
Com dinâmica própria, o jogo é praticado em quadra reduzida, utilizando raquetes específicas e bolas perfuradas. Em Brumado, a prática é gratuita e aberta ao público nas quadras da Fundação de Assistência e Desenvolvimento Social de Brumado (Fadesb), do Colégio Estadual de Tempo Integral de Brumado (Cetib), da Escola Municipal em Tempo Integral Santa Rita de Cássia e do Clube Social, Cultural e Recreativo de Brumado, onde iniciantes têm acesso a materiais disponibilizados para treinos. O esporte contempla diferentes faixas etárias, com categorias para juvenis, adultos e adultos 50+, reforçando seu caráter inclusivo.
Na atual gestão, a Prefeitura Municipal de Brumado tem desenvolvido ações e destinado investimentos, através da Secretaria Municipal de Cultura, Esporte, Lazer e Turismo, para fomentar atividades esportivas como instrumento de inclusão social. Nesse contexto, a Administração Municipal se consolidou como parceira estratégica no desenvolvimento Pickleball, garantindo suporte logístico e estrutural, além de incentivar a participação de atletas brumadenses em competições estaduais e nacionais.
A promoção do 1º Campeonato Municipal de Pickleball representa um avanço da gestão do prefeito Fabrício Abrantes Pires de Souza Oliveira (Avante) na consolidação da modalidade esportiva em Brumado.
