Os dados do Censo Escolar 2024, realizado pelo Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (Inep), autarquia federal vinculado ao Ministério da Educação, divulgado no último dia 9 de abril, mostram que a Bahia lidera o país em número de estudantes matriculados em Comunidades Quilombolas. As matrículas nesse tipo de Educação aumentaram de 84.693 em 2023 para 88.035 em 2024, representando 32% do total registrado em todo o Brasil. Além disso, o Estado também aumentou as matrículas em Assentamentos, passando de 20.868 em 2023 para 21.600 em 2024. Essa evolução fez com que a Bahia passasse da 4ª para a 3ª colocação entre as Unidades Federativas nesse aspecto.
Na rede estadual baiana, houve um crescimento de 19% na oferta de vagas em Comunidades Quilombolas e de 9% em Assentamentos, comparando-se os anos de 2023 e 2024. Esses avanços refletem investimentos em políticas educacionais específicas para esses Territórios, levando em consideração seus modos de vida, tradições e saberes, conforme destaca a secretária de Estado da Educação da Bahia, Rowenna dos Santos Brito.
“Estamos investindo na valorização da Educação Quilombola, com ações que envolvem a ampliação da infraestrutura, o fortalecimento da formação continuada de professores e o incentivo à produção de materiais didáticos contextualizados. Atuamos da mesma forma nas Escolas do Campo, atendendo aos Assentamentos. A Educação é um instrumento de emancipação e reparação histórica, e nosso compromisso é continuar promovendo uma Escola Pública verdadeiramente inclusiva, antirracista e promotora da cidadania plena para todos os estudantes, especialmente aqueles de Comunidades Tradicionais”, enfatiza a secretária.
Entre as obras de infraestrutura em andamento, ela destaca a construção de uma Unidade Escolar na Comunidade Quilombola da Matinha, em Feira de Santana, e o Processo de Licitação para duas Escolas em Assentamentos: uma em Vitória da Conquista (Lagoa e Caldeirão) e outra no município de Mucuri (Assentamento Paulo Freire).
