Um dos principais produtores nacionais de algodão, atrás apenas do estado de Mato Grosso, a Bahia apresentou aumento de 15,4% da área plantada, considerando os 307,7 mil hectares atuais em comparação aos 266,6 mil hectares da safra passada. Os dados são do 10° Levantamento da Safra de Grãos, publicado pela Companhia Nacional de Abastecimento (Conab), nesta quinta-feira (7).
A produção de algodão neste ciclo também deve ser superior à observada na safra 2020/2021: estimativa de incremento de 7,9%, podendo alcançar 1,37 milhões de toneladas de algodão em caroço. O crescimento foi impulsionado pelo aumento da área cultivada.
Apesar do aumento em área e produção, a irregularidade da distribuição das chuvas causou decréscimo de 6,5% na produtividade, que deve fechar em 4.441 kg/ha. Na Bahia, as lavouras de sequeiro estão em fase de colheita, enquanto que as irrigadas estão em fase de formação de maçãs, com ótimo desenvolvimento.

Milho – A produção total de milho na Bahia – incluindo primeira, segunda e terceira safras – deve chegar em 3,4 milhões de toneladas, um aumento de 25,7% em relação à safra anterior. A área plantada deve fechar o ciclo em 814 mil hectares (+8%) e a produtividade deverá ficar em 4.206 kg/ha (+16,4%).
A colheita do milho 1° safra está em andamento, alcançando 90% da área semeada, com o clima seco favorecendo o avanço. Quanto ao milho 2° safra, observa-se uma limitação do potencial produtivo em razão da restrição hídrica. As lavouras de segunda safra são cultivadas no extremo oeste do estado, em sucessão à lavoura de soja precoce. A colheita deve ocorrer em meados de julho.
Por fim, o milho 3° safra apresentou aumento de área cultivada devido à expectativa de alta nas cotações, com aumento no consumo e boa produtividade. Esta expansão se dá sobre áreas de pastagens e de outras culturas. As lavouras se encontram nas fases de desenvolvimento vegetativo, floração, enchimento de grãos, com ótimo desenvolvimento.
Mamona – Com a tendência de aumento nos preços, foi registrado incremento de 6,7% na área cultivada, fechando o ciclo em 47,6 mil hectares. O bom regime hídrico também possibilitou um expressivo aumento de 57,3% na produtividade, registrando média de 900 kg/ha. Com isso, a produção alcança 42,8 mil toneladas, um aumento de 67,8% em relação à safra anterior. O plantio se estende pelo centro-norte da Bahia, com o manejo predominante de sequeiro, mas com alguns empreendimentos com irrigação por gotejamento para suplementação nos episódios de escassez hídrica, havendo colheita das bagas por praticamente todo o ano.
Sorgo – A produção deve fechar o ciclo em 293,5 mil toneladas, um incremento de 98% em relação à safra anterior, de 148,2 mil toneladas, devido ao aumento de 73,7% na área plantada. As lavouras estão em fase de floração e enchimento de grãos, sendo cultivadas por grandes produtores, com aporte intermediário de tecnologia. O cultivo ocorre no centro-sul, centro-norte e Vale do São Francisco, no período da primeira safra. Já no extremo-oeste, o plantio ocorre em sucessão à lavoura da soja, em cultivo de segunda safra, ambos majoritariamente em regime de sequeiro.
