Amanhã (16) comemora-se o Dia Mundial da Alimentação, celebrado desde 1981 em mais de 150 países como uma data fundamental na conscientização da população sobre questões como nutrição e alimentação. A data também marca os 75 anos de fundação da Organização das Nações Unidas para a Alimentação e Agricultura (FAO). Esse ano o tema é “Cultivar, Alimentar, Preservar. Juntos. As nossas ações são o nosso futuro.”
Aqui na Bahia, por meio de uma série de programas e ações, o Governo do Estado tem atuado no combate à fome da população mais vulnerável. Por meio da Secretaria de Justiça, Direitos Humanos e Desenvolvimento Social (SJDHDS), ações como o Programa de Aquisição de Alimentos (PAA) e os Restaurantes Populares chegaram a milhões de baianos e baianas.
De janeiro a outubro de 2020, o PAA distribuiu quase 4 milhões de quilos de alimentos para pessoas em situação de vulnerabilidade social. Através do programa, um direito primordial, que é o direto à alimentação, foi garantido para quase 200 mil famílias nos quatro cantos da Bahia.
Na outra ponta de atuação do programa, o PAA Leite garantiu leite de qualidade para cerca de 30 mil famílias baianas, durante os 10 meses de 2020. Foram distribuídos mais de 5 milhões de litros de leite em 86 municípios da Bahia. O leite é entregue à famílias em situação de vulnerabilidade, abrigos, asilos, entre outras instituições devidamente cadastradas no programa.
“Em 2020, o Dia Mundial da Alimentação ganha uma importância ainda maior diante dos 75 anos da FAO e do prêmio Nobel da Paz entregue ao Programa Mundial de Alimentos da ONU. Isso reforça a importância de garantir alimentação saudável e digna para a população, uma das prioridades do Governo do Estado, especialmente durante essa pandemia”, afirmou o secretário da SJDHDS, Carlos Martins.
Ainda com o objetivo de garantir o fortalecimento e a oferta de alimentos pelo programa durante a pandemia, a SJDHDS entregou, entre os meses de março e setembro de 2020, um kit com 50 veículos e equipamentos para a execução do programa nos municípios. A ação é fruto de uma parceria com o Ministério da Cidadania, gestor dos programas.
Em Salvador, duas unidades do Restaurante Popular, instaladas em dois bairros populares e com grande circulação de pessoas, garantem almoço nutritivo e de qualidade para milhões de pessoas. Apenas em 2020 foram servidas mais de 1.095.462 refeições ao custo de apenas R$ 1,00.
“Nossas unidades se adaptaram para o período da pandemia, mas continuamos ofertando alimentação, inclusive aos finais de semana, o que permitiu a muitas pessoas garantir pelo menos uma refeição saudável durante o dia. Por dia, 5 mil refeições são servidas nas duas unidades”, explica a superintendente de Inclusão e Segurança Alimentar da SJDHDS, Rose Pondé.
Nobel da Paz
No último dia 09, o comitê norueguês anunciou que o vencedor do Nobel da Paz de 2020 foi o Programa Mundial de Alimentação da Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU). O programa atende cerca de 100 milhões de pessoas por ano em mais de 80 países.
“É um reconhecimento importante de uma política pública que deve ser prioridade e compromisso de todos, em todos os países do mundo”, comentou o secretário Carlos Martins.
