Na manhã da quinta-feira (22), em Vitória da Conquista, representantes de 37 Câmaras Municipais da região reuniram-se e aprovaram a Carta do Sudoeste, que foi encaminhada à Assembleia Legislativa da Bahia e ao governador Jerônimo Rodrigues Souza (PT). O documento solicita o apoio dos parlamentares para a aprovação do Projeto de Lei que tramita no Legislativo estadual, visando à criação da Região Metropolitana do Sudoeste.
Além dos presidentes dos Legislativos Municipais da região, participaram do encontro os presidentes da Câmara Municipal de Salvador e de Lauro de Freitas, respectivamente Carlos da Silva Muniz (PSDB) e João Raimundo – Juca – Damasceno dos Santos (PSDB). Também estiveram presentes diversos vereadores conquistenses, como Ricardo – Gordo – Santos Costa (PSB), Fernando – Jacaré – Vasconcelos Silva (PT), Alexandre – Xandó – Garcia Araújo (PT), Márcia Viviane de Araújo Sampaio (PT), Edjaime Rosa – Bibia – de Carvalho (UB), Cris Rocha (MDB), Luis Carlos – Dudé – Batista de Oliveira (UB) e Antoniel – Natan da Carroceira – Alves da Silva (Avante). Todos reconheceram a importância do encontro, destacando de forma unânime o interesse regional pela aprovação do Projeto que tramita na Assembleia.
O presidente da Câmara Municipal de Vitória da Conquista, Ivan Cordeiro da Silva Filho (PL), que foi o articulador do evento, afirmou que o principal objetivo foi atingido. “Debatemos de maneira democrática sobre nossa força política e nossos interesses comuns. Fico feliz em ver que esse é um sonho compartilhado por todos, e que nossos irmãos e vizinhos estão engajados nessa luta, que é fundamental para o desenvolvimento de nossa região”, declarou.
A proposta de criação da Região Metropolitana do Sudoeste da Bahia foi apresentada pelo deputado estadual Vitor Viana Paranhos de Azevedo (PL), que também propôs a criação do Conselho de Desenvolvimento e Integração da Região Metropolitana do Sudoeste Baiano (CRMSB).
Segundo a proposição, a nova Região Metropolitana será formada pelos municípios de Vitória da Conquista, Anagé, Aracatu, Barra do Choça, Belo Campo, Bom Jesus da Serra, Brumado, Caatiba, Caetanos, Cândido Sales, Caraíbas, Condeúba, Cordeiros, Encruzilhada, Guajeru, Iguaí, Itambé, Itapetinga, Itarantim, Ituaçu, Jacaraci, Licínio de Almeida, Macarani, Maetinga, Maiquinique, Malhada de Pedras, Mirante, Mortugaba, Nova Canaã, Piripá, Planalto, Poções, Potiraguá, Presidente Jânio Quadros, Ribeirão do Largo, Tanhaçu e Tremedal.

À Assembleia Legislativa da Bahia
Prezados(as) deputados(as),
Nós, representantes das cidades e comunidades do Sudoeste da Bahia, dirigimo-nos a Vossas Excelências com o objetivo de solicitar sensibilidade e apoio na aprovação do projeto de lei que propõe a criação da Região Metropolitana do Sudoeste.
Essa iniciativa é de extrema importância para toda a nossa região, que atualmente possui mais de um milhão de habitantes. A consolidação da Região Metropolitana trará benefícios consideráveis, promovendo uma gestão mais integrada e eficiente dos recursos públicos, além de impulsionar o desenvolvimento econômico, social e urbano de nossas cidades.
A aprovação do projeto representará avanços na melhoria da infraestrutura, na ampliação de serviços públicos de qualidade, na geração de empregos e na atração de investimentos. Além disso, fortalecerá nossa voz junto aos órgãos estaduais e federais, facilitando a captação de recursos e a implementação de políticas públicas alinhadas às necessidades de nossa população.
Reiteramos que a criação da Região Metropolitana do Sudoeste é uma oportunidade única de promover crescimento sustentável, inclusão social e elevar a qualidade de vida de todos os habitantes de nossa região.
