Após iniciar no bairro Felipe Achy, na primeira semana de julho, a Campanha de Vacinação Antirrábica da sede, as equipes responsáveis pela vacinação realizaram ontem (12) o Dia D de mobilização na Unidade de Saúde Jorge Heine e no Centro de Saúde Coriolano José Fagundes.
Nesta etapa, a Campanha teve como objetivo promover a cobertura vacinal de cães e gatos nos bairros Sidney Pereira de Almeida, Humberto Lopes, Bela Vista e Centro. Conforme a Coordenação Municipal de Imunização, com o trabalho dividido estrategicamente por área, o resultado tem sido bastante satisfatório.
Na próxima quinta-feira (19), será a vez da Unidade Básica de Saúde Valter Vilarinho realizar o Dia D de Vacinação, que vai abranger os bairros Agenor Novaes, Valdomiro Santos e Centro.
A Secretaria Municipal de Saúde alerta que, embora a raiva esteja controlada em cães e gatos, continua sendo necessário que a população vacine anualmente os animais para garantir a manutenção deste controle. Assim, a população humana também fica livre da doença. Vale lembrar que a raiva em 100% dos casos não tem cura e leva, consequentemente, à morte.
A campanha em Itambé também conta com equipes volantes que estão realizando a vacinação na zona rural e distritos, conforme calendário pré-estabelecido, com data definida para cada localidade.
