O Programa de Aquisição de Alimentos (PAA) chegou ao final do primeiro semestre com números expressivos. Os beneficiados são mais do que números: são milhões de baianos e baianas contemplados com a entrega de alimentos de qualidade, promovendo segurança alimentar e combatendo a fome na Bahia.
De janeiro até junho deste ano, o Governo do Estado distribuiu, por meio do PAA Alimentos, mais de 2,4 milhões de quilos de alimentos a mais de 110 mil pessoas em todo o estado. O PAA na modalidade Leite bateu a marca de 4,7 milhões de litros de leite entregues à famílias em situação de vulnerabilidade social.
Executado pela Secretaria de Justiça, Direitos Humanos e Desenvolvimento Social da Bahia (SJDHDS), o programa tem sido fundamental para o fortalecimento da agricultura familiar e o combate à fome, que nos últimos anos voltou a aumentar. O programa conta com recursos do Ministério da Cidadania.
O PAA Leite está presente em 89 municípios baianos e conta com mais de 700 produtores de leite de vaca e de cabra, que são distribuídos em escolas, abrigos e asilos, além de beneficiar as famílias que mais precisam. O PAA Alimentos atua em 112 municípios com a participação de mais de 2,6 mil produtores, que são em sua grande maioria pequenos agricultores familiares.
Com a pandemia, o PAA tem cumprido um importante papel na garantia do direito à alimentação e segurança alimentar de milhões de famílias baianas que enfrentam dificuldades. Por outro lado, milhares de agricultores familiares continuaram ofertando alimentos ao programa, garantindo renda e trabalho.
“Encerrar esse primeiro semestre com mais de 2 milhões de quilos de alimentos e 4 milhões de litros de leite reforça a importância do nosso trabalho. São números expressivos, mas acredito que o mais importante é saber que são milhões de famílias com a garantia do direito mais básico de todo ser humano, o da alimentação”, pontua o secretário da SJDHDS, Carlos Martins.
Superintendente de Inclusão e Segurança Alimentar da SJDHDS, Rose Pondé, reforça a importância da atuação do programa em dois eixos fundamentais, especialmente no momento atual. “Ao mesmo tempo em que estamos garantindo alimentação saudável a famílias vulneráveis, atuamos na garantia de trabalho e renda para aqueles que estão produzindo. O PAA é um programa central no combate à fome e à pobreza na Bahia e no Brasil”, finaliza.
