Estudantes do Centro Educacional Monteiro Lobato – Tempo Integral, Unidade da rede públcia estadual de Ensino de Firmino Alves, estão se preparando para a segunda colheita da horta escolar. No espaço, eles cultivam tomates, cebolinha, coentro, couve-flor e outras verduras e hortaliças, que são consumidas pela própria comunidade escolar. Essa iniciativa faz parte do Projeto “Hortas Escolares: Plantar, Cuidar e Cuidar-se”, que promove o aprendizado sobre consciência ambiental, consumo responsável e alimentação saudável, com os produtos orgânicos produzidos pelos estudantes.
Miguel Zion, de 17 anos, aluno da 2ª série, membro ativo do Projeto orientado pela professora Josiane Silva Moraes, comenta que a horta tem fortalecido os vínculos dos alunos com a agricultura e ampliado a compreensão sobre a importância do plantio e da alimentação equilibrada. “A horta tem sido uma fonte de aprendizado surpreendente. Mudou a visão de muitos colegas em relação ao meio ambiente, e a abordagem utilizada despertou nosso interesse. Ela é inclusiva, divertida e muito útil para todos nós”, afirma.
A Horta do Centro Educacional Monteiro Lobato – Tempo Integral está ligada ao estudo de temas como sustentabilidade socioambiental, além de conteúdos de Física, Química e Biologia. Os adubos orgânicos utilizados são produzidos pelos próprios estudantes, com orientação dos professores, enquanto a irrigação é feita com um sistema de armazenamento de água da chuva, também criado pelos alunos. A água armazenada é transferida para um tanque, de onde é usada para irrigar as plantas.
Iniciativa que estimula a consciência ambiental
A Secretaria de Estado da Educação da Bahia incentiva a implementação de Hortas Escolares como estratégia para fortalecer a Educação Ambiental e Alimentar. O Projeto “Hortas Escolares: Plantar, Cuidar e Cuidar-se” busca integrar a sustentabilidade ao cotidiano das Escolas da rede pública do Estado, promovendo recursos de aprendizagem que envolvem a comunidade escolar e estimulam a alimentação saudável e o consumo consciente.
As Hortas são utilizadas como ferramenta pedagógica, promovendo uma abordagem lúdica e prática que integra conhecimentos de diversas disciplinas, como Ciências, Matemática e Educação Ambiental, contribuindo para uma formação mais consciente e engajada dos estudantes.
