O Hospital São Vicente de Paula (Santa Casa de Misericórdia), de Vitória da Conquista, fez história ao se tornar a primeira Instituição do interior da Bahia habilitada para realizar Transplantes de Rim e Fígado. Essa equipe, a maior do interior baiano autorizada pelo Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) para tais procedimentos, representa um avanço significativo na Medicina da região.
Com essa habilitação, a Bahia consolida um importante polo estratégico no Sudoeste do Estado, o que promete reduzir distâncias e tempos de espera, além de aumentar as chances de sobrevivência dos pacientes. A secretária de Estado da Saúde da Bahia, Roberta Silva de Carvalho Santana, ressaltou a importância desse marco, afirmando que “trazer Transplantes Hepáticos para o interior do Estado é garantir que mais pessoas tenham acesso a uma vida digna e segura. Estamos interiorizando a Medicina de Alta Complexidade e abrindo novas oportunidades na Saúde (Pública) baiana”.
Os números já mostram o impacto dessa mudança: no primeiro trimestre de 2025, os Transplantes de Fígado realizados na Bahia aumentaram em 47% em comparação ao mesmo período do ano anterior.
Além do Hospital São Vicente de Paula, outras Instituições em Salvador também estão avançando nesse sentido. O Complexo Hospitalar Aliança (Hospital Aliança) já recebeu a habilitação para realizar Transplantes de Fígado, enquanto o Hospital Geral Roberto Santos está em processo de credenciamento para Transplantes de Medula Óssea. O Hospital Santo Antônio (Obras Sociais Irmã Dulce) é outro que também está na fase final de credenciamento para Transplantes de Córnea, e o Hospital Ortopédico do Estado da Bahia está se preparando para realizar Transplantes de Tecido Ósseo. O Hospital da Bahia, também em Salvador, por sua vez, já foi credenciado para a realização de Transplantes de Medula Óssea.
