A Justiça agendou para o dia 23 de julho, às 8h30, no Fórum Eliezer Rodrigues de Souza, em Barra da Estiva, um júri popular para avaliar o caso de Valdinei – Bô – da Silva Caires, ex-vereador e sindicalista, acusado de homicídio qualificado e ocultação de cadáver da gestante Beatriz Pires da Silva.
De acordo com as investigações presididas pela 20ª Coordenadoria Regional de Polícia Civil do Interior (20ª Coorpin) e pela Delegacia Territorial de Barra da Estiva, Beatriz Pires, que estava grávida e mantinha um relacionamento com o réu, desapareceu na noite de 11 de janeiro de 2023. Ela foi vista pela última vez entrando em um veículo pertencente ao Sindicato dos Trabalhadores Rurais da cidade, utilizado por Valdinei – Bô – da Silva Caires, que também era o presidente da Entidade. O corpo de Beatriz Pires, então com 25 anos, nunca foi localizado.
As investigações revelaram que a relação entre a vítima e o ex-vereador era mais profunda, uma vez que Beatriz Pires já tinha um filho de dois anos com ele e estava grávida de seis meses na época de seu desaparecimento. A apuração indicou que a motivação para o crime pode ter sido a resistência do ex-vereador em aceitar a revelação de que era o pai da criança, especialmente considerando seu prestígio na comunidade local.
Em 12 de julho de 2023, o Ministério Público, representado pelo Promotor de Justiça Alex Bezerra Bacellar, formalizou a denúncia contra Valdinei Caires por feminicídio agravado por motivo fútil e pela vulnerabilidade da vítima. Após a denúncia, Valdinei foi preso preventivamente em 21 de julho e desde então está custodiado no Conjunto Penal de Brumado, aguardando o julgamento.
Pressionado pela opinião pública e seus colegas vereadores, Valdinei Caires renunciou à presidência da Câmara Municipal em 8 de março e teve seu mandato cassado em 13 de dezembro de 2023, quase cinco meses após sua prisão.
O caso do ex-vereador destaca as dificuldades no enfrentamento da violência de gênero e a necessidade de processos judiciais transparentes e justos para responsabilizar os culpados. A comunidade de Barra da Estiva, conforme relatos coletados nas ruas da cidade pela reportagem do JS, aguarda com expectativa o júri, que poderá definir o futuro de Valdinei Caires e oferecer uma resposta à sociedade sobre a impunidade em casos semelhantes.
