Mais de 1 bilhão de pessoas estão obesas no mundo, de acordo com dados da Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS). A pesquisa mostra que a doença mais que dobrou entre adultos e quadruplicou entre crianças e adolescentes de 5 a 19 anos, no período entre 1990 e 2022. Esta realidade tem alterado os rumos das pesquisas e investimentos da indústria farmacêutica. Um estudo da Allianz Trade, empresa especializada em seguro de crédito, indica que a venda de medicamentos análogos ao GLP-1, como as famosas “canetas emagrecedoras”, deve movimentar R$ 572 bilhões até 2030.
“A obesidade preocupa e quando medidas de mudanças no estilo de vida, que incluem a reeducação alimentar e a implantação da atividade física não estão conseguindo fazer com que a pessoa emagreça ou diminua o seu percentual de gordura, o uso de medicamentos que ajudem neste processo se faz necessário”, explica o endocrinologista, Fabiano Lago. “Mas claro que, como no caso de outras doenças, é importante a orientação de um médico para fazer o diagnóstico correto da obesidade, analisar como compromete a saúde do paciente, quais doenças estão associadas e a severidade do grau da obesidade”, complementa o médico.
Pesquisas e novos medicamentos
Estas mudanças no perfil da população também impactam as estratégias da indústria farmacêutica, como é o caso da Prati-Donaduzzi, na qual há um setor chamado Inteligência de Mercado voltado para a análise de novos medicamentos e tendências mundiais do ramo. O primeiro medicamento no segmento produzido pela farmacêutica foi o Orlistate, em 2018.
Esse medicamento, vendido em cápsulas, age no tubo digestivo, inibindo as lipases gastrointestinais, que são as enzimas responsáveis pela digestão das gorduras provenientes dos alimentos, sem a digestão, o organismo não consegue absorve-las, eliminando cerca de 30% das gorduras ingeridas nas fezes. “Para tirar o máximo proveito do Orlistate, é importante que a pessoa tenha uma dieta rica em lipídios, que podem ser encontrados em alimentos como abacate, carnes vermelhas gordas, ovos e queijos”, explica o pesquisador chefe do PDI da Prati-Donaduzzi, Volnei José Tondo Filho.
“O Orlistate ajuda no emagrecimento e tem indicações precisas como monoterapia, por ser seguro, visto que a cápsula não age na circulação sanguínea e nem no sistema nervoso central, focando sua ação apenas no tubo digestivo, não causando dependência. Ele também é uma boa alternativa como coadjuvante de outros medicamentos”, frisa o endocrinologista.
Em 2024 a Prati-Donaduzzi iniciou as pesquisas para a fabricação de uma versão do Ozempic, medicamento análogo do GLP1 para tratamento da diabetes tipo 2 e que também é utilizada para tratamento da obesidade. A quebra da patente do medicamento está prevista para 2026.
