A Lei Maria da Penha – que pune e coíbe atos de violência contra a mulher no Brasil – reconhecida pela Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU) como uma das três mais avançadas legislações no combate à violência doméstica no mundo, está em sentido contrário a realidade brasileira.
De acordo com a 10ª Pesquisa Nacional de Violência Contra Mulher [https://www12.senado.leg.br/institucional/datasenado/publicacaodatasenado?id=pesquisa-nacional-de-violencia-contra-a-mulher-datasenado-2023], realizada pelo Instituto DataSenado em parceria com o Observatório da Mulher contra a Violência (OMV), ferramenta on-line desenvolvida pela Secretaria Municipal de Direitos Humanos e Cidadania da Cidade de São Paulo, capaz de identificar e mapear, por meio de pesquisas metodológicas e de uma base de dados confiável, as diferentes ocorrências de crimes de violência contra a mulher. 30% das mulheres do país já sofreram algum tipo de violência doméstica ou familiar provocada por um homem. Dentre elas, 76% sofreram violência física, índice que varia de acordo com a renda – enquanto 64% das mulheres que sofreram violência doméstica ou familiar e que recebem mais de seis salários mínimos declaram ter sofrido violência física, esse índice chega a 79% entre as vítimas com renda de até dois salários mínimos. Afinal, porque em um país que possui uma legislação tão rigorosa para a violência contra a mulher e violência doméstica, ainda há tantos casos de agressões e mortes contra o gênero feminino?
A Organização das Nações Unidas no Brasil, realiza desde 2008, a campanha “Una-se – 21 dias de Ativismo pelo Fim da Violência Contra Mulheres e Meninas. #Não tem Desculpa [https://brasil.un.org/pt-br/253011-una-se-pelo-fim-da-violencia-contra-mulheres-e-meninas-naotemdesculpa], com objetivo de unir esforços e promover ações, além de investimentos financeiros, para proteger os direitos humanos de todas as mulheres e meninas, agindo em prevenção e resposta a violência baseada em gênero. A campanha deste ano, que ocorreu entre os dias 20 de novembro e 10 de dezembro, teve por objetivo, destacar a importância de financiar diferentes estratégias de prevenção e de respostas para impedir a ocorrência da violência.
