Agentes da Polícia Federal apreenderam R$ 3,2 milhões em espécie na residência do ex-prefeito de Paratinga (BA) Marcel José Carneiro de Carvalho. Ele foi um dos alvos da 4ª fase da Operação Overclean, deflagrada nesta sexta-feira 27, que mira supostos desvios de recursos de Emendas Parlamentares.
De acordo com a Polícia Federal, a contagem das notas durou mais de cinco horas. Investigadores afirmam que o montante, encontrado em gavetas de armário na residência do ex-gestor, reforça indícios de lavagem de dinheiro e enriquecimento ilícito.
As investigações da Overclean apontam que o petista Marcel José Carneiro de Carvalho teria ligações com o núcleo supostamente beneficiado pelo desvio de recursos públicos entre 2021 e 2024.
Lideranças da oposição no município, sob reserva, declararam ao JS que a apreensão de tão expressivo montante de dinheiro vivo, com os desdobramentos da Operação, vai indicar que os recursos, que eram ainda maiores, já vinham sendo utilizados para financiar campanhas eleitorais, a de 2024 que elegeu o prefeito Vitor – Tom – Ferreira de Santana (PT), apoiado por Marcel José Carneiro de Carvalho, e a pré-campanha do ex-prefeito, que vem sendo desenvolvida desde o ano passado, a uma cadeira na Assembleia Legislativa do Estado.
A oposição afirma que acompanhará de perto os desdobramentos da Operação e não descarta a possibilidade de ingressar com uma Ação na Justiça Eleitoral para apurar o suposto uso de recursos ilícitos na campanha de 2024, bem como na pré-campanha do ex-prefeito ao cargo de Deputado Estadual, atualmente em curso.
Em Nota publicada nas redes sociais, a defesa do ex-prefeito afirmou que o cumprimento do Mandado de Busca e Apreensão autorizado pelo ministro Kassio Nunes Marques, do Supremo Tribunal Federal, por Policiais Federal foi recebido com “absoluta tranquilidade”, sem qualquer resistência por parte do ex-gestor. A defesa destaca que Marcel José Carneiro de Carvalho permanece à disposição das autoridades competentes para prestar todos os esclarecimentos necessários, confiando no pleno funcionamento das Instituições e na garantia dos direitos constitucionais ao contraditório e à ampla defesa. Os advogados do ex-prefeito afirmam, na Nota, que acompanharão de perto o andamento das investigações e adotarão todas as medidas jurídicas cabíveis para demonstrar a legalidade da conduta de cliente, que, segundo ressaltaram, sempre pautou sua vida pública e privada pelo respeito à legalidade.
No entanto, tanto o ex-prefeito Marcel José Carneiro de Carvalho quanto seus advogados optaram por não se manifestar sobre a expressiva quantia em dinheiro em espécie apreendida pela Polícia Federal.
