Em sintonia com o ato público realizado na manhã desta sexta-feira (9), na Praça Nove de Novembro (Praça do Acarajé), em Vitória da Conquista, em protesto contra a decisão da Prefeitura de encerrar o apoio à Casa do Estudante Quilombola, o deputado federal Waldenor Pereira (PT) manifestou seu repúdio à medida. Ele classificou a decisão como insensível e excludente, por colocar em risco a permanência de estudantes quilombolas no ensino superior.
Waldenor ressaltou que a Casa do Estudante Quilombola é uma iniciativa histórica e exitosa, criada em março de 2008 por iniciativa de seu mandato, quando exercia o cargo de deputado estadual, por meio de subvenção social da Assembleia Legislativa da Bahia, em parceria com os Agentes Pastorais Negros (APNs), então coordenados por Elizabeth Ferreira (Beta), e com apoio da Secretaria de Promoção da Igualdade Racial do Governo Jacques Wagner, à época sob a condução do ex-deputado federal Luiz Alberto.
A implantação contou ainda com o apoio decisivo da Prefeitura Municipal de Vitória da Conquista, então administrada pelo prefeito Zé Raimundo, tendo Ester Figueiredo como secretária municipal de Educação. Os recursos destinados pelo mandato de Waldenor garantiram a aquisição de móveis e utensílios da Casa, além do pagamento do aluguel por dois anos. A partir de então, o Município assumiu o custeio do aluguel, mantendo a Casa em funcionamento até os dias atuais.
Ao longo de 17 anos, a Casa do Estudante Quilombola — inicialmente denominada Casa do Estudante Quilombola Zumbi dos Palmares — acolheu estudantes quilombolas de Vitória da Conquista e de diversos municípios da região Sudoeste, possibilitando a formação de profissionais em áreas como Medicina, Enfermagem, Direito, Agronomia, entre outras.
Segundo o deputado, o fechamento da Casa representa um duro golpe na luta do movimento negro por ascensão social. Vitória da Conquista possui uma população quilombola estimada em cerca de 12 mil pessoas e integra uma região que abriga 67 comunidades quilombolas já reconhecidas, sendo 33 delas no próprio município.
Waldenor reafirmou seu repúdio à decisão da Prefeitura e colocou o mandato à disposição para buscar alternativas que garantam a manutenção da Casa, inclusive com a destinação de emendas parlamentares e articulações junto aos governos federal e estadual. “Trata-se de uma política pública que transformou vidas e que não pode ser desmontada”, afirmou.
