Diversos municípios baianos celebram as melhorias nas estruturas de seus Mercados Municipais e Feiras Livres, envolvendo agricultores familiares, feirantes, comerciantes e consumidores. Entre esses espaços revitalizados, destaca-se a Feira Coberta Avelina Martins de Almeida, localizada em Encruzilhada.
Trata-se de um espaço moderno e bem estruturado, que conta com 80 barracas padronizadas recentemente entregues à comunidade. A iniciativa é promovida pelo Governo do Estado, por meio da Companhia de Desenvolvimento e Ação Regional (CAR), vinculada à Secretaria de Estado de Desenvolvimento Rural da Bahia, em parceria com o Consórcio Intermunicipal do Vale do Rio Gavião (Civalerg).
Após anos de trabalho sob o sol e a chuva, Gilvan Ferreira de Almeida, agricultor e feirante de Encruzilhada há mais de quatro décadas, celebra as novas condições de comercialização de seus produtos cultivados na propriedade. Para ele, a nova estrutura representa uma grande conquista.
“A construção do Mercado foi uma bênção de Deus. Trabalhávamos muitos anos na feira, de sol a sol. Pegávamos chuva, vento. Quando havia festa na Praça, nos tiravam do lugar. Foi um sonho realizado para nós. Estou muito feliz. Políticas públicas assim fazem toda a diferença”, destaca Gilvan.
A nova Feira busca qualificar e expandir a comercialização de produtos, especialmente da agricultura familiar, oferecendo condições melhores de segurança, higiene e conforto para toda a comunidade. Semanalmente, o espaço recebe produtores de café, feijão, milho e outros itens cultivados na região, fortalecendo a economia local.
Joeni Araújo, presidente da Associação Vale Mangerona e feirante, afirma que essa transformação representa uma mudança significativa para o município. “É uma realização e uma esperança de uma vida melhor”.
O secretário municipal de Agricultura de Encruzilhada, Ezequiel Pereira Santos, ressalta que o espaço foi planejado para oferecer melhor acolhimento aos feirantes e clientes. “A Feira Livre de Encruzilhada desempenha um papel fundamental na valorização da agricultura familiar local, dignificando os agricultores e estimulando a circulação de riqueza na economia do município. Além disso, promove a inclusão social ao garantir direitos a todos”.
Entre os benefícios destacados pelo secretário municipal de Agricultura, estão: o fortalecimento da agricultura familiar, a oferta de um espaço higiênico, seguro, coberto contra sol e chuva; o aumento do conforto para feirantes e agricultores; o acesso a produtos frescos da região; a preservação das tradições culturais locais; a estímulo à economia local; e a criação de um ambiente comunitário e social mais unido.
