O deputado estadual e ex-presidente da Assembleia Legislativa da Bahia (AL-BA), Nelson Souza Leal (Progressista), anunciou nesta sexta-feira (07) o rompimento com o grupo político do governador Jerônimo Rodrigues Souza (PT) e declarou apoio ao ex-deputado federal, ex-prefeito de Salvador e atual vice-presidente nacional do União Brasil, Antônio Carlos Peixoto de Magalhães Neto (ACM Neto). Além do apoio, Nelson Leal, que está em seu sétimo mandato consecutivo na Assembleia Legislativa da Bahia, será o coordenador da campanha de ACM Neto na disputa pela sucessão estadual baiana em 2026. Para se dedicar integralmente à missão de coordenar a campanha, o parlamentar progressista também anunciou a decisão de abrir mão de disputar a reeleição.
O deputado estadual Nelson Leal revelou ter sido convidado por ACM Neto para coordenar sua campanha ao Governo da Bahia em 2026. Segundo Leal, o convite foi prontamente aceito por acreditar que a eleição do ex-prefeito de Salvador representa, em suas palavras, “o melhor caminho para a Bahia”. Ao enaltecer a gestão de ACM Neto à frente da capital baiana, que classificou como “extraordinária”, Leal afirmou estar convencido de que o líder político tem capacidade para promover as mudanças que, em sua avaliação, o Estado necessita.
O parlamentar progressista afirmou que sua decisão foi fruto de uma análise cuidadosa sobre os rumos da Bahia. Ressaltou que decidiu abrir mão de candidatura à reeleição, deixando de lado o projeto político pessoal, para assumir a coordenação da campanha de ACM Neto, por estar convencido de que essa é a maneira mais efetiva de contribuir para uma verdadeira transformação no Estado.
A escolha de Nelson Leal foi recebida com entusiasmo por ACM Neto, que elogiou a trajetória política deputado e sua reconhecida liderança em todo o território baiano. Á imprensa ACM Neto reforçou a confiança na atuação de Nelson Leal, com quem mantém uma longa convivência, e destacou sua dedicação ao desenvolvimento da Bahia. Ao final, ACM Neto manifestou publicamente sua gratidão pelo apoio do deputado e afirmou que a colaboração de Nelson Leal será fundamental na campanha que se inicia, reforçando o otimismo do grupo para os desafios futuros.
A escolha de Nelson Leal para a coordenação da campanha eleitoral para disputa da sucessão estadual é vista como um movimento de peso no tabuleiro político baiano. Com ampla experiência e forte articulação no interior, ele será responsável por aproximar lideranças, prefeitos e parlamentares em torno do projeto oposicionista liderado por ACM Neto.
