O Governo Federal, por meio do Ministério do Desenvolvimento Regional, o MDR, vai liberar mais de R$ 1,8 milhão para obras de saneamento básico em cinco estados do País.
Os recursos serão usados em obras de manejo de águas pluviais, saneamento integrado e abastecimento de água em cidades da Bahia, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Sergipe e São Paulo.
Pedro Maranhão, secretário nacional de Saneamento, destaca que os investimentos no setor de saneamento são necessários para levar mais saúde à população, além de preservar o meio ambiente.
“A falta de acesso a serviços, como tratamento de água e esgoto, coloca em risco a saúde da população. Além disso, a falta de saneamento é o maior problema ambiental brasileiro. Nesta gestão, estamos trabalhando para mudar essa situação, dando continuidade a importantes obras do setor.”
A maior parte dos recursos será aplicada em obras de manejo de águas pluviais em Curitiba, no Paraná. A capital baiana, Salvador, também vai investir os recursos federais em obras dessa modalidade.
Santo André, em São Paulo, e Belford Roxo, no Rio de Janeiro, vão utilizar os recursos em obras de saneamento integrado.
Já o município de Lagarto, em Sergipe, vai realizar obras de abastecimento de água.
