Nesta quinta-feira, 1º de maio de 2025, a Música Popular Brasileira perdeu uma de suas maiores vozes, Nana Caymmi, aos 84 anos. A cantora e intérprete emblemática da música brasileira faleceu na Clínica São José, no Rio de Janeiro, em decorrência de problemas cardíacos, de forma discreta, sem alarde, deixando um legado que atravessa gerações e que permanece e permanecerá vivo na memória de fãs e artistas.
Nana Caymmi, nascida no Rio de Janeiro com o nome de Dinahir Tostes Caymmi, compartilha seu nome com uma tia, irmã do pai. Filha do renomado cantor e compositor baiano Dorival Caymmi e da cantora Stella Maris, desde a infância foi incentivada (por seus pais) a estudar piano clássico. Em 1960, fez sua primeira gravação no estúdio com seu pai, interpretando “Acalanto”, uma canção de ninar especialmente composta para ela. Nesse mesmo ano, lançou um compacto simples com as músicas “Adeus” e “Nossos Beijos”.
Reconhecida por sua voz singular, que combinava delicadeza e força, sua trajetória foi marcada por interpretações que tocam a alma, expressando emoções profundas e uma sensibilidade ímpar. Sua voz, comparada a uma maré — ora tempestuosa, ora serena —, tornou-se sua assinatura, transitando por diversos estilos e épocas, sempre surpreendendo com sua autenticidade e imprevisibilidade.
Ao longo de sua carreira, Nana Caymmi conquistou espaço por sua capacidade de se conectar com o público, sabendo exatamente onde doía e indo até lá com uma sinceridade comovente.
