O prêmio é uma parceria do Grupo Bandeirantes de Comunicação com o Instituto Aquila – que é responsável pela avaliação dos municípios em todo o país. O objetivo é reconhecer e destacar boas práticas das gestões públicas municipais. Com o resultado, Licínio de Almeida vai disputar a etapa nacional do Prêmio Band Cidades Excelentes, em dezembro, em Brasília.
Para o prefeito Frederico – Dr. Fred – Vasconcellos Ferreira (PCdoB), que participou da solenidade de entrega dos prêmios no último dia 27, no Auditório da União dos Municípios da Bahia (UPB), acompanhado da secretária municipal de Educação e Cultura, Karla Mychely Teles de Miranda, o reconhecimento pelo trabalho e esforço de muitas pessoas que estão envolvidas no setor da Educação do município. Ainda segundo o prefeito, Licínio de Almeida tem conquistado esse reconhecimento porque é uma gestão de continuidade.
