O Governo do Brasil, por meio do Ministério da Saúde, aprovou a incorporação de tratamento para a Hepatite C em crianças de três anos a menores de 12 anos em uma nova versão. O medicamento Sofosbuvir 200 mg/Velpatasvir 50 mg tem apresentação granulada. Isso facilita a aceitação por crianças que tenham dificuldade de engolir comprimidos. A decisão foi tomada em dezembro pela Comissão Nacional de Incorporação de Tecnologias no SUS (Conitec) e publicada no Diário Oficial da União.
A Hepatite C é uma doença silenciosa que ataca o Fígado. Se a infecção crônica pela Hepatite C não for tratada de forma oportuna, a criança pode apresentar complicações, como Cirrose ou Câncer quando for adulta. O SUS disponibiliza diagnóstico e tratamento da Hepatite C. Com o tratamento adequado, a Hepatite C tem cura.
A ausência de formulações adequadas para crianças dificultava o acesso, atrasando o início do tratamento e trazendo riscos à saúde que poderiam ser evitados. Agora, o Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) passa a oferecer um medicamento seguro e eficiente que ajuda a curar a doença ainda na infância, a fim de garantir que todos tenham o mesmo direito aos tratamentos mais modernos.
O tratamento com o novo medicamento dura 12 semanas, com apenas uma dose por dia. O medicamento possui menos efeitos colaterais e tem amplo espectro genotípico para o vírus da Hepatite C.
A Coordenadora-Geral de Vigilância das Hepatites Virais do Ministério da Saúde, Tiemi Arakawa, reforça a importância dessa inovação. “Nosso objetivo é curar a Hepatite C ainda na infância para evitar doenças graves no futuro. Esse novo medicamento na apresentação granulada é fácil de tomar e muito seguro. Com ele, queremos garantir que todas as crianças tenham acesso ao melhor tratamento disponível no SUS”, afirma.
