O aumento dos casos de sofrimento emocional e suicídio entre adolescentes é um dos principais alertas de Saúde Pública da atualidade. Segundo o Boletim Epidemiológico de Tentativas e Óbitos por Suicídio no Brasil (Ministério da Saúde, 2023), a taxa de suicídio entre jovens de 15 a 19 anos cresceu mais de 45% entre 2012 e 2022. Esses números revelam uma crise silenciosa que precisa ser tratada com urgência e empatia.
Para a Psicóloga Aline Grafiette, da Clínica Mental One, ainda existe uma grande negligência em relação à Saúde Mental dos jovens. “Infelizmente, a Psicologia ainda é procurada só quando o problema se agrava. É como acontece com a segurança: muitas pessoas só percebem sua importância quando algo ruim já aconteceu. Só aí se corre atrás de ajuda. Mas no caso do suicídio, não existe segunda chance. É a única situação que realmente não tem volta” alerta.
A especialista destaca que os adolescentes que chegam a esse ponto geralmente já estavam em sofrimento há bastante tempo. “Esse menino não acordou e decidiu acabar com a própria vida. Ele provavelmente vinha mal, dando sinais. Mas muitos desses sinais são ignorados ou minimizados. E isso é extremamente perigoso.”
Aline também chama atenção para a tendência de banalizar o sofrimento adolescente. “É comum ouvirmos coisas como ‘é só uma fase’, ‘adolescente é tudo igual’. Mas essa naturalização do sofrimento impede que transtornos como depressão, ansiedade e outras condições emocionais sejam percebidos e tratados a tempo.”
Ela reforça que os pais e responsáveis têm um papel fundamental nesse cuidado. “Nem sempre são culpados, mas são, sim, responsáveis por garantir apoio e buscar ajuda profissional. Ignorar o sofrimento não é uma opção.”
De acordo com a Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS), 75% dos Transtornos Mentais começam antes dos 24 anos, sendo que mais da metade tem início antes dos 14. Ainda assim, muitos jovens não recebem o acolhimento e acompanhamento psicológico que precisam.
Para ajudar adolescentes a atravessar esse período tão delicado, é essencial criar um ambiente de escuta, confiança e acolhimento. Os pais devem observar mudanças bruscas de comportamento, como isolamento, irritabilidade excessiva, queda no rendimento escolar, distúrbios de sono ou alimentação, e falas que indicam desesperança ou vontade de desaparecer. “Mais do que julgar, é preciso estar presente, perguntar como o jovem está de verdade, validar suas emoções e não minimizar sua dor”, orienta Aline Grafiette. Procurar ajuda profissional diante de qualquer sinal de sofrimento persistente é um gesto de cuidado — e não de fraqueza. Além disso, manter uma rotina equilibrada, incentivar atividades que tragam prazer e fortalecer os vínculos afetivos dentro de casa são atitudes que fazem diferença real no bem-estar emocional dos adolescentes.
“Precisamos parar de reagir só quando é tarde demais”, conclui Aline. “Saúde Mental não pode ser vista como luxo, nem tratada como exagero. O cuidado psicológico é essencial e salva vidas.”
